“By utilizing the online composition software Noteflight, (think Google docs with the musical staff) students will create their own compositions to perform and share with their classmates.”

By utilizing the online composition software Noteflight, (think Google docs with the musical staff) students will create their own compositions to perform and share with their classmates. Students will begin using Noteflight by creating eight and sixteen measure solo compositions. After students have mastered composing solo melody lines, students will create duets with classmates. Because Noteflight operates like a Google Doc, students can collaboratively edit their musical composition both during and outside of class time.

The teacher and other students can also leave written feedback regarding student compositions. Finally, after multiple experiences with individual and small group compositions, five classes will collaborative to create two string orchestra composition to perform at our final concert in May of 2019. Because Noteflight operates like a Google doc, we will collaborate between classes and students will also collaborate outside of their class time with their peers.
