Unbiased knowledge and access to parent-specific resources for improved academic success

With more parents and caregivers playing a bigger role in their child’s education these days, there’s an urgent need for a safe online space to connect with other parents and education experts and access accurate, real-time information about teaching and learning modalities.

Future of School (FoS) is collaborating with the Parent Support for Online Learning (PSOL), an organization with an engaged audience of parents ready to mentor others who are actively involved in their child’s education, to build and facilitate a high-impact learning community for thousands of K–12 parents nationwide. This online portal fills a need no other organization is addressing and will give parents access to helpful information so they can be better supported as they provide for their child’s education.

GOAL

$250,000-$300,000 for Parent Support Portal; 5,000 users for 2022–2023 SY

Positive outcomes for individual families, communities, and the K–12 system

Parents will have a reliable community in which to access peer-to-peer mentoring and resources in a safe, positive, specially tailored environment.

Experienced parent mentors will be available to address questions and help other parents navigate the often-complicated process of working with schools.

With reliable, unbiased knowledge and insights to make better decisions about their schooling, parents and caregivers can help personalize their child’s school experience resulting in stronger academic success.

Schools will have more successful interactions with parents who are feeling less confused and overwhelmed, and better equipped to advocate for their child’s needs.

Regular surveys and focus groups will surface parents’ up-to-date perspectives on education issues, providing school systems with opportunities to make positive adjustments and avoid conflicts that arise from lack of mutual understanding.
