A humanitarian effort in partnership with World Refugees School

Form secured by GivingTools online giving.

Based on the successful model already implemented in Syria, the initiative will ensure displaced children quickly receive materials and direct support to continue their education. FoS and WRS will soon travel to Poland to distribute initial items and perform a needs assessment to inform next steps, including the implementation of two proven models described here.

As a leader, influencer, and change-maker in online and hybrid learning since 2016, Future of School is uniquely positioned to lead this effort, based on long-term support of best practices as well as real-time support to ensure crisis schooling efforts during COVID-19 used successful remote learning strategies.

By partnering with World Refugees School and building upon its proven models for refugee education, we will strengthen and enhance efforts to make a positive difference. We’re stepping up to meet this critical need, but we need your help to make it a success.

We need your help!

We’ve already made significant progress toward our funding goal, but still need to raise an additional $250,000 to launch the WRS in Poland. Donations of any size make a significant impact on the project. Here are some examples of how far your contribution can go:

  • $235 enables a full year of mobile classroom use per student

  • $475 prepares and delivers one School-in-a-Backpack

  • $2,500 supports a Ukrainian teacher’s salary to teach online for a month

  • $5,000 provides an on-the-ground parent resource coordinator for three months

  • $25,000 covers the construction and transport of one mobile classroom

The time is now. Can we count on your support?

Future of School is transitioning from its founding as a private foundation called the Foundation for Blended and Online Learning (FBOL) to a public charity, Future of School. Until we complete the IRS transition, all charitable cash donations are deductible at up to 30 percent of the taxpayer’s adjusted gross income (AGI).

Two flexible solutions to meet all needs

School-in-a-Backpack

Through this model, we provide individual learning tools such as laptop computers and/or tablets, preloaded with age-appropriate lessons, books, workbooks, and other learning materials―all delivered in a backpack―that children in transitory situations can take with them as they move between locations. Each backpack also includes a parent resource guide with critical information on education opportunities and initiatives as well as an email address to send questions to the team.

Mobile Classroom Units

Based upon the successful model already implemented in Syria, the World Refugees School in Poland will be set up through the use of fully furnished, equipped and staffed mobile classrooms built into trailers that can easily be transported where needed. The mobile classrooms:

  • Accommodate up to 25 students per unit
  • Have a networked computer lab with PCs, laptops and/or tablets
  • Include internet connectivity and Wi-Fi
  • Feature on-board surveillance and invigilation cameras with DVR
  • Are self-powered with solar panels and gas/diesel generator
