Because of online classes, I stopped doing just enough homework to graze by, and instead truly started to learn.

With a busy lifestyle, like one that is completely immersed in the arts, finding time to do school work is an arduous task. For me, school has always been a challenge. English, writing and history all have come very easily to me, but anything else is brutal. I spent the first few years of high school trying to balance my theatre, reading, and math homework until I picked myself up and decided to find a better alternative. My solution was in the beauty of online learning.

At school, when I couldn’t go in and ask for help because of after school rehearsals, I could instead email my online teachers and set up a video chat later that night. A traditional style classroom is often too distracting with twenty students to one teacher. However, when I am taking a class online, I feel as though it is solely me and the teacher, with nothing to focus on but my education. I began to see my success growing at an exponential rate. For students like me who work and spend their entire day focused on their art and future, online classes are the key to success. Now, at the end of my senior year, I love doing math, and I am finally good at it. I take online courses on the side when I have the extra time just to keep those skills sharp. I’ve had a much wider variety of classes to choose from. When I want a class to read more, I can take it. When I want to discover a new science, I get to pick which one to learn. I look for a challenge and a teacher who is available to talk to at most times of the day. Because of online classes, I stopped doing just enough homework to graze by, and instead truly started to learn.

The world is growing increasingly more technological. The knowledge of so many powerful minds in every culture around the globe is at our finger tips. Shutting a student off from that is taking away from our generation being one step closer to peace. We are the ones to end hate, and I feel empowered to make that change because of my online learning.
