“In a world where so many distractions compete for the attention of students, teachers have a heavier task. Blended learning allows teachers to meet students where they are in the digital world.

But it also enables teachers the flexibility to bring students back into the world of real human contact in times when needed.”

– Jon Craig

Our goal in this project is to increase student engagement through technological and instructional innovation. In the first phase of the Truman Blended Initiative, we created a space for teachers to create content videos to be used inside and outside of the classroom for learning at anytime. The next phase of this project is geared towards increasing the use of blended learning strategies by creating a space for these opportunities, while simultaneously piloting a true, blended learning program that includes courses, where students will not be required to report to the classroom on a daily basis.

This learning space will serve two purposes: 1) A space where students in these courses can go to work independently or meet with a small study group and 2) Teachers in the traditional class can access a learning space for their students designed for blending learning lessons (station rotation, flipped classroom, lab rotation, etc.)
