“I learned that I really have to plan what I want to do for courses and the self discipline and self motivation was needed to complete the courses on time.”

– Skylar Wise

My experiences learning in a traditional setting compared to online were very different. I struggled with social anxiety and being in a traditional school greatly impacted my ability to focus.

I chose online learning because working at my own pace allowed me more flexibility to choose when I completed my schoolwork, worked at my job and trained horses. Shifting to online learning gave me more freedom and confidence to be successful. This path also gave me the more opportunity to work on and overcome my anxiety. I cultivated the friendships I made when I was in the traditional setting and improved my overall well-being while maintaining my quality grades.

My goal is to earn an Associate's Degree in Human Services from Northcentral Technical College. I then plan to transfer to either UW Stevens Point or UW Green Bay to obtain my Bachelor of Science in psychology and from there, my goal is to attend the Medical College of Wisconsin in my hometown of Wausau, WI. I know I have a lot of education ahead of me and I'm thankful for scholarships like yours that allow me to pursue my dreams while allowing me to be less stressed about the financial aspect of my education.

Once again, thank you for the confidence you have in me to represent your foundation with this scholarship. I am humbled and extremely appreciative of the support you are providing me in pursuing my dreams.
